The Communication Matrix, an OHSU project, is the premier free assessment tool and active community for families and professionals working with people functioning at early stages of communication. The team behind the Matrix wanted to merge the tool and community into a single, digital ecosystem.
The new website is designed to expand the reach of this groundbreaking tool, build a larger online community of support, and make the valuable data gathered by the tool accessible to the larger research community. A key theme of the project was to make the site accessible on all levels.
Some project highlights: a unified login and custom dashboard experience for visitors; a custom forum with a "Collections" feature allowing guest curators to gather related posts; audience-focused pages that more clearly market the free tool to the folks who need it; custom, branded graphics and iconography; and localization (the site is available in Spanish, Chinese, Russian, Korean, Czech, and Dutch).
My team and I have been working with Smith & Connors on a long term project that involves creating a huge new web site and integrating it with one that has existed for many years. Their team has invested a huge effort into understanding our existing website and working with our team to figure out how to redesign it so that the two sites will connect seamlessly.Charity Rowland, Ph.D., OHSU Researcher
